The Kind Closet helps to provide food, clothing, and personal care items to our students and their family members.

We distribute food on an as needed basis, delivering at least 1 time a month to each family/recipient.

During the holiday season, our recipients and families in need receive the essentials for a Thanksgiving meal. We hold a holiday gift drive to help our families provide Christmas gifts to their children.

Clothing and personal items are distributed on an as needed basis as well, and we can provide essentials and change of season clothing at any point. We try to house all sizes, so when a student is in need, we have the supplies to provide

There is a definite need for help within our community and our student population. The Kind Closet began as a way to help meet the basic needs of our kids, so that learning and growing as a student can happen.

Our students help with this initiative. We incorporate the initiative into our Health/PE curriculum as it falls under the umbrella of our curriculum of community health (Steve and Stacy). We also utilize our Student Activity Board Members (sponsored by Stacy Galiyas). They work tirelessly in the Kind Closet during their off periods and lunch periods organizing, doing laundry, and coming up with new ideas. Our SAVE Promise Club (Sponsored by Stacy Galiyas and Bree Thompson) also helps with this initiative planning mental health awareness events, helping to organize the Kind Closet and embracing community service by coming up with great ideas to help us provide to our students and community. All of the students involved are engaged and learn about and understand food insecurity, compassion and community outreach.
